A J Cundall

Jackie Cundall grew up in a family of artists, and studied Stage Design at the Old Vic Theatre School, which was directed by Michael Saint Denis.

She was in charge of making properties and set decorations at the Old Vic Theatre, and the first two seasons at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival in Ontario, Canada, directed by Tyrone Guthrie.

With designer Tanya Moiselwitsch she was responsible for the masks in Guthrie's production of Oedipus Rex, with James Mason in the title role.

She also worked freelance for various London productions, including opera and ballet at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

After moving away from London she worked for the Devon County Schools Museum Service, designing and making a wide variety of models and displays.

She has had solo exhibitions of wood engravings in Yeovil Art Centre and Glastonbury Rural Life Museum, as well as a shared exhibition in Yeovil Art Centre.

As a result of these exhibitions there are now examples of her work in Canada, U.S.A., France and various places in the UK.
