BIOGRAPHY
Judy Sale was born in Bridgeport IL. USA and holds a BS Degree from Eastern Illinois University where she studied visual arts and art history. She is a citizen of both, the United States, by birth, and the United Kingdom, by decree, in 1993. Judy has lived and worked in 8 different countries and travelled widely to many more. While living in Cyprus, she founded and directed the Monagri Foundation, a charitable foundation established to restore an ancient monastery to become an international ArtCentre where foreign artists are selected for temporary residencies and/or exhibitions. As an artist and on behalf of artists world-wide, she has spoken at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris as well as at The Council of Europe in Strasbourg. She is a highly respected and well known figure in the international art world. She presently works from her studio and home in East London, a converted Victorian dog biscuit factory, where she lives amongst the largest community of artists in Europe. She is keen to continue her own practice as an artist while keeping involved in the global development of exchanges of artists and their art. Judy began as a painter but has also worked more three-dimensionally or in relief, utilising the found objects gathered from various parts of the world that now serve as icons of memories past. Drawing has become more important to her too. She appreciates the inherently impulsive marks made when drawing and incorporates that same spontaneity into her paintings on canvas. |
