Small commissions undertaken

Maker and visual design artist, works in the field of live performance, installation, video, children's theatre, movement research and improvisation. A performance artist himself, producing and touring solo work in Europe and beyond. Currently focussing on solo work, images and lyrical gestures.

Since 1991 design has been an essential component of Mario's practice, then in 1998 he gained a Graduate Diploma in Visual Design for Dance at the Laban Centre in London. Recent training also included bodywork with physioballs (Rome) and anthropocosmic theatre at "Relocating the Sacred in Contemporary Performance" - University of Central Lancashire.

Selected past work:
1991-93: performing, prop making and scene painting for T.A.M. in Rome
1994-97: performing, co-producing and designing popular children's theatre. The work attracted funding from London Boroughs Grants Committee, Waltham Forest Arts Council and Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Masks and props also appeared at Channel 4's The Big Breakfast.
2000: Venetian Masquerade - UK Gay Sports 2000
2001: Baloons! - Edinburgh Fringe; Windsor Fringe

Current Work:
DREAMERS. Presented in Rome, London, Barcelona and Almada (Portugal).
OLAS - Presented at Marato 2001, Barcelona.

Future projects:
"Bodies Between Waves" for Resolution! - The Place Theatre.
"Ponte-pe-Ronte" / "Head in the Clouds" - New solo pieces for the 4th Japan International Ballet & Modern Dance Competition, Nagoya, Japan, in February 2002.

Gold Splash, Water Gala Performance, Larkswood Leisure Centre, Chingford

Seachange, participative arts projects in primary schools, with Theatre Confetti

Mario also plan to travel to St. Peterburgh (Russia), Edinburgh and Berlin, for research and performing - summer 2002.
